Technical Director for the Manitoba Paddling Association (MPA), Jerome Seremak, approached Solar Manitoba in the summer of 2014 seeking to complement their existing Geothermal heating system. The MPA received funding from the Manitoba Housing and Development department through their community places initiative. The Manitoba Paddling Association also installed a slightly larger system at their Selkirk facility.

Project Highlights

This 7.5kW solar photovoltaic system was, at the time of install, the largest roof mounted system in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This project was installed prior to the launch of the Manitoba Hydro Solar Rebate program. This installation was used as the site of the kick-off announcement for the Manitoba Hydro Solar Rebate program. To the best of our knowledge this installation is the first to use micro inverters in Manitoba, and is the first installation to combine both solar energy and geothermal
